What is worth writing in about

Corrections to a number: if a light range, a watering interval or a substrate ratio on a species file does not match your own measurement under the same conditions, send the figure you got, the substrate you used, and the temperature. Those messages are the ones that get read first, and a correction that holds up is made on the page the same week.

Requests for a species to be written up: the collection is finite and the write-up order is roughly the order the plants were acquired. If you want a genus covered, say which species and what you are stuck on — the answer usually turns into a care guide rather than a species file.

Anything on this site that is broken or unclear: a link that 404s, a figure whose caption does not match the table underneath it, a sentence that reads badly in either language.

What does not get a reply

This site does not sell plants, cuttings, seed or substrate, and it does not broker them. Messages offering to buy, sell or swap material cannot be acted on, and neither can requests for plant identification from a single photograph — leaf shape alone does not separate half the Echeveria hybrids in circulation.

Guest posts, sponsored species placements and link insertions are declined without discussion. Advertising on this site is served programmatically and is not sold directly; see the privacy page for how that works.

Response time and language

Messages are answered in the order they arrive, usually within three to five working days. English and Chinese are both fine — write in whichever you are more precise in, because a precise question gets a useful answer.

Before writing, it is worth checking whether the question is already answered on the page you came from. The month-by-month task tables and the parameter tables at the foot of every species file cover most of what people ask.
